A robot and human hand coming together. is artificial intelligence becoming too much?

Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) Becoming Too Much?

Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) becoming too much?

I posed this question to an AI Tool. Here is it’s conclusion:

Ultimately, AI isn’t inherently “too much.” It’s a powerful tool, and like any tool, it can be used for good or bad.

AI Tool Reponse to question

What an AI Tool had to say

Shocking! An AI Tool doesn’t think AI is too much. And in fact, it ‘thinks’ of itself as a powerful tool. As much as the tools are able to think for themselves at this point.

It did acknowledge the potential to be used for good and bad. And even within the context of the answer, it stated the following:

Ethical Frameworks: Establishing clear guidelines for AI development is essential. These frameworks should address bias, transparency, and accountability.

Human Oversight: AI should remain a tool to empower humans, not replace them. Humans should have control over AI decision-making processes.

Focus on Human Well-being: AI development should prioritize its impact on humanity. We must focus on creating jobs, solving problems, and improving quality of life, not just maximizing profits.

I have to give it credit on this. It recognizes the pitfalls and is actively trying to steer people toward implementing safeguards.

Apple Dipping their toe in

With Apple playing catch up in the world of consumer electronics as it relates to AI, the media has been pumping out all the great features announced at the WWDC the first week of June. The sheer number of entries leads me to believe that Artificial Intelligence is becoming too much.

It is clear, that AI is becoming almost inescapable.

“AI should remain a tool to empower humans, not replace them”. That sounds comforting when you first read it. But the more I think about it, that is the most concerning part. Humans can be incredibly lazy. If something can be automated, you can be sure that someone will look to ways to make it so.

I also don’t trust our ability for oversight. Again, we as a species can be incredibly lazy.

Too many times, humans have shown they don’t want to think for themselves. Will those creating AI allow it to think? To become sentient?

I hope not.

I’ve seen that movie before. I know how it ends
