Why I Write
I’ve always been a writer. Just very rarely publically before. Here is why I write.

The world throws a lot at us. Deadlines loom, anxieties simmer, and the constant churn of daily life can leave us feeling overwhelmed. For me, writing acts as a pressure valve, a release that allows me to process emotions, explore ideas, and be present in a creative space. This is why I write.
Words become my paintbrush, crafting vivid scenes or etching out raw feelings onto a page. It’s a form of catharsis, a way to purge the jumbled thoughts swirling in my mind and give them shape. Whether it’s weaving a fantastical story or delving into a personal reflection, writing becomes a form of meditation.
But writing isn’t just about purging; it’s also about exploration. It allows me to step outside of myself and inhabit different perspectives. I can become a fearless adventurer in a fictional world, a historical figure whispering secrets from the past,or even a fictional creature, experiencing the world anew. This exploration expands my understanding of myself and the world around me, fostering empathy and a sense of connection.
The joy of creation is another powerful motivator. Building a story from the ground up, brick by narrative brick, is immensely satisfying. The characters become companions, their voices whispering in my ear as I guide them through their journeys. Each finished piece, whether a short poem or a sprawling novel, feels like a small victory, a testament to the power of imagination and perseverance.
Until now, I’ve often been scared to put my writing out there. But they say you need to concur your fears.
On these pages, you’ll find everything from essays to commentary on popular culture, to fiction writing I have done. Now that my writing has a home, I invite you into it and poke around everything that is in my mind.
Oscar Wilde said it originally, but it was in the book Bag of Bones by Stephen King, that it came to my attention first, that a writer is someone who has taught their mind to misbehave. I’m still learning this. I don’t think I have taught it to misbehave so much as it just does it on its own. As this project grows, I hope to teach it more, and let it run anywhere it wants.
So to answer why I write: There’s a lot going on in my mind. I have learned that getting it out helps to do a number of things, including freeing up space for new thoughts. I hope you enjoy a peek inside.
