Commentary
In my mind, I have a lot of opinions. I have a lot of interests and a lot of thoughts and opinions on these interests. The world is a strange place. And in order to try and make sense of it all, I sometimes need to get my thoughts out through these commentary pieces.
Music, Sports, Politics, Popular Culture are all topics that will be explored. Hopefully with a bit of humour. But always fair.

These commentaries aren’t pronouncements from on high. They’re explorations, dives into the undercurrents of current events, dissecting issues with a sharp eye and a healthy dose of curiosity. Through analysis and informed opinion, I aim to illuminate the gray areas, challenge assumptions, and spark conversations that go beyond the headlines.
These pieces will also be different from the essays found elsewhere on this site. Commentaries analyze current events, offering insights and sparking discussions without needing a formal conclusion, although sometimes there will be a very strong conclusion. Think of essays as building a house, and commentaries as lively discussions on the front porch.
At the end of the day, it is one person’s opinion that you will be reading. That is shaped through MY lens, and no one else’s. And while it is my opinion, I will always try to tell the story right.
If you find yourself here, please read with that in mind. Be open to another persons viewpoint. And challenge yourself to think.

- Why Trump’s 51st State Idea Makes No SenseIn the ever-theatrical world of Donald Trump’s political commentary, contradictions are not rare. But one of the more baffling ones to surface involves Canada—America’s peaceful neighbour to the north. Trump has, at various times, floated the idea (jokingly or otherwise) of Canada becoming the 51st state. Yet in the same breath, he’s also claimed that…
- The Masters is My Rite of SpringI haven’t golfed in several years and don’t even own clubs anymore. The itch to get out on the greens after a long, hard winter is no longer there. Despite this, The Masters remains my true first rite of spring. Every April, when The Masters comes on, I become emotionally invested. I’m not really concerned…
- What does it mean to be patriotic?I never considered myself patriotic before. Sure, I’m proud of my country and love living here. I cheer for our athletes in the Olympics. Any national sporting event I will don the red and white and cheer my heart out for Canada to be victorious, or at least not embarrass themselves. I even prefer the…
- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are BrokenThe Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a broken organization. For too long, with many iterations of players and coaches, the same things keep happening.
